Embassy of Japan
Cultural and business diplomacy
We’ve been working with Japan’s Government to manage its public relations activities in Australia since 2015. This includes a focus on diplomacy initiatives but also media and events to take Japan’s culture to a wide audience and build knowledge and understanding of the country’s people and culture.
Highlights include managing international media initiatives including the arrival of two Japanese warships and a Soryu Class submarine in Sydney, as well as media for major diplomatic events such as celebrity chef Adam Liaw’s appointment as Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador. We also managed media arrangements for the visit of internationally renowned Japanese pianist and composer Nobuyuki Tsujii.
We’ve also helped Japan and Australian diplomacy by supporting international media activities, including those associated with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Australia in 2018– the first Japanese leader to visit Darwin since it was bombed by Japan during World War Two.
