Department of Veterans’ Affairs Centenary of Anzac
Commemorating history and sacrifice
Morris Walker provided event management services to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for Australia’s most important period of national commemorations, the Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2019.
The Centenary marked 100 years since Australia’s involvement in the First World War and gave the nation an opportunity to honour Australian servicemen and women who defended our freedoms in wars, conflicts and peace operations throughout a Century of Service.
We were privileged to help organise and implement a range of commemoration ceremonies including the 75th anniversary of the Siege of Tobruk, the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Greece and Crete, the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan and the 75th anniversary of the Fall of Singapore.
For the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, we managed three separate major events in the space of less than 24 hours. This included arrangements for the Governor-General and Prime Minister at a ceremonial reception at Parliament House, managing Australian and international VIPs on Anzac Parade for the official commemoration service, and transporting over 100 veterans and guests on a charter flight from Canberra to Brisbane for a second ceremonial event at Enoggera.
